Steven Hess, Senior Vice President, Sovereign Risk Group, Moody's

Steven Hess has been a member of the Sovereign Risk Group since 1996. He is the lead analyst for a number of East Asian and Australasian countries, as well as for the United States, Canada, and Bermuda.


Mr. Hess brought to Moody's his extensive experience in the commercial banking industry as an international economist focusing on country risk management. His last prior position was with Standard Chartered Bank, before which he worked at Bank of America, Security Pacific National Bank, and First Interstate Bank. He has also worked at the Economic Planning Board of the government of the Republic of Korea.


Mr. Hess holds a B.S. in Foreign Service from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He received an M.A. in Economics from Claremont Graduate School in California, and also completed further graduate studies in Economics.

Preston Keat, Managing Director and Head of Political and Country Risk, UBS 

Preston Keat is head of political and country risk, and a managing director at UBS. In this role he is involved in a broad range of activities, including scenario planning, portfolio stress testing, country risk methodology development, and firm wide political and country risk management. He also runs the internal "risk think tank" for the firm, which develops forward-looking views on systemic political and economic trends.


Prior to joining UBS, Preston was director of research, Europe practice head, and a member of the management committee at Eurasia Group, a political risk research and consulting firm. Preston's teaching background includes political risk management, political economy, comparative politics, political economy, and international business strategy.


Preston holds a Ph.D. from UCLA, an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. from the College of William and Mary.


Sandy Wolfson, Managing Director and Head of Global Country Risk Management, Citigroup 

Sandy Wolfson is a Managing Director and Head of Global Country Risk Management at Citigroup. In that capacity, he is responsible for assessing and managing country risk across Citi's global franchises, setting limits on country risk exposures, and running the Country Risk Committee which reviews Citi's largest country franchises. In addition, he advises senior management on global risk issues. Prior to joining Citigroup, he worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (1999-2005), working primarily on Indonesia and Japan 


Sandy holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
